How To Make French Toast

The below recipe will serve 2 and makes sweet french toast

Ingredients:

2 x Slices of bread (for best results let the bread dry overnight)
1 Egg
Quarter cup milk
1 tbsp margarine/butter/cooking oil
Teaspoon cinammon

Utensils:

Wide bottomed bowl
Whisk/fork
Frying pan

Preparation:

French toast is best made using bread that is going stale, the harder bread stops too much egg mixture being absorbed and the bread going soggy.  If you do not have any stale bread then toast the slices in a toaster for a couple of seconds to dry the bread out.
Beat the egg in a medium sized bowl, and mix in the milk.
Add the cinammon to the mixture.
Melt the margarine/butter/cooking oil in a frying pan, when the marg starts to bubble this is hot enough.
Coat each piece of bread in the egg mixture, making sure each piece is thoroughly coated.  Soak each piece of bread immediately before cooking, don’t leave to soak in the mixture as it will go soggy (the ideal soaking time is 20 seconds)
Cook on a low heat for about five minutes until the underside is light brown, turn and cook the other side for a further five minutes until that is also light brown.
Remove from heat and serve.

The cinammon can be replaced with any of the following to give an alternative flavour:

Teaspoon vanilla extract
Teaspoon sugar
Almond essence
